- News section is very helpful to stay tuned to the latest at Explosion.
Both times my team played explosion their coach was very rude and mean. On top of that their players got 4 yellow cards and 1 red in a game. May be a good club but not a good atmosphere
this is a very great and talented club
As a previous player of Explosion FC, I strongly recommend this club. I joined Explosion entering 6th grade and played with EFC through high school. I was coached by 5 different Explosion coaches (many of which still coach EFC) and learned many different things from each. At the time I joined, there were two teams for the age group i was assigned. I was placed on the lesser of the two teams originally, and in two years moved up to the “A” team (proving that with hard work, you can become one of the stronger players). Entering high school, my EFC coach had a serious conversation about his desire to have me play center midfield, but he felt that my fitness was holding me back. I joined HS track and became a Hock champ running a 4:30 mile which certainly elevated my soccer game. Coaches can only give you the information you need to succeed, but it is up to the player to go out and put the work in. At the HS level, I was coached by two EFC coaches who put just as much, if not more into the team as every player did. Coaching sessions were about tactics, and game prep, each player was responsible for their own fitness (as it should be). The team was always placed in the highest level of competition available and culminated its final season as Needham Memorial Day Tournament Chaps in the highest flight.
EFC got me great college exposure and I was contacted to play at local DIII schools. I eventually chose UCONN (where I knew the chances of me making the D1 team were slim to none) because of their strong Biomedical Engineering Program. At UCONN I played for, and was President of the Mens Club Soccer team. Club Soccer is a great alternative, and at certain (Large) schools, can be more competitive than some D3 schools.
All in all, explosion helped set me up for an incredible and accomplished athletic and academic career.
This is is a great club both of my boys have improved from its drills and training. I defiantly suggest joining this club its worth your money.
The club provides a good experience but it is not without it’s flaws.
Explosion is a great club and the u12 b team is very good.
Great club! I really suggest to join and a lot of improvement goes on in this club. Only bad think is the website. the website Could be improved.
This club is a great club and wow I can’t see how so many people hate it of all the games and practices I’ve been to I’ve never seen a player with an unhappy face. To me this club is not just amazing but has really good coaches and the ymca they play at is just beautiful. Another thing is that the futsal’s is great and when they play they play like a team not just some town team that kicks the ball and does nothing.
This Club is A good talented club and is a very good club.
Wow! I can’t believe these people are saying such bad things about this amazing club. Not only has this club given each and every one of the players their own time to shine, but to allow them to further their skills in this game. All I can say is this club has helped me become the great player I always wanted to be. I was once a travel player in Mansfield, and now I’m playing with very competitive teams. We as a team push towards goals as one. Our coach told us there is no one man army, but it is a effort as a whole. In taking his very good advice we went undefeated, won 3 tournaments and won many medals/trophies. Although there are many good things from joining Explosion FC, there are also some of the bad things. The bad things are as follows your right the coaches focuse mainly on the good players, but they also help maintain and improve the lesser players skills. Also the attitude towards the club at times can be deflating. Overall joining Explosion FC can be a great experience for the kids who want to work hard and go big in the soccer world. I’m saying this from a players view, and from observing others and how they felt.
PLEASE DO NOT join this club. We had the worst experience and my child suffered major blows to her self esteem. She went from LOVING soccer and kicking a ball every chance she got to crying when it was time to go to practice. She was on the 11 team and her coach was an assistant coach for a college and had absolutely NO IDEA how to deal with young children. All she did was scream and tell them it’s all about winning. She punished the younger, smaller kids on the team and only allowed them to play less than 10 minutes of every game. The team lost 99% of their games and I honestly believe it was because they were so unhappy with this coach. We did send and email to the woman who runs explosion and the one who was all smiles and personality when they recruited us and she never even took the time to respond. Also, there was 17 kids on our 8v8 team which was way to many! Their excuse was “well we are going to split the team in the fall”. I spoke to another parent who also quit after the season and she said the woman emailed her and asked if they could have her uniform back! The worst people ever from the top to the coaches. Don’t let your child suffer here. Go somewhere were they really care about player development. Also, any good comments on this club are surely from staff. No wonder they are anonymous.
We got sucked in joining their spring U15 league and all we can say is THANK GOD the season is coming to an end. The coach is terrible and the club does not care about anything other than getting your money. Stay clear
My niece plays for this club and hates it. They only focus on the stronger players and could care less about the weaker ones. They get you to sign, take your hefty fee and ignore you if you are one of the weaker players. My niece just joined another club, we are hoping for a more positive experience.
I was a guest on the Explosion FC field this past weekend. The Explosion FC coach for what looked like U12 Boys team was aboslutely out of line and ridiculous. He was constantly SCREAMING at his players and the referees. At one point, as a protest to a PK called against him, he yelled for his goalie to get out of the way.
His players were skilled and they were just doing what they were told, but I could not believe the manner in which that coach handled himself. If I were to act like that with my club, I would be fired. He should be ashamed of himself. The kids follow the lead of their coach. Hopefully something is done about that guy. I wish I had his name. Also, I’ve tried to find a contact person on the Explosion FC website so I could let them know what happened, but I have been unable to find any email addresses.
The coaches name is Dave Medeiros. Not a great reputation as far as yelling and screaming at kids. His team is strong because he pulls from the town of Norton, MA which has a very strong youth soccer program. Strong alternatives to Explosion are Nova and Blackwatch.
I agree with Blackwatch being alternative, but how can you compare Nova with EFC or BW. Nova is falling apart. Bringing in lower level kids to partially fill teams.
This Soccer Club focuses soley on the players and the developemental of each player. The integrity couldn’t be more solid then any other club I have experienced. Explosion is always open for suggestions and feedback. I LOVE this club and feel fortunate my kids can be a part of it.
My stepdaughter played for this club and, like all clubs, has its good and bad. Futsal training is second to none and Camp Finberg is BEAUTIFUL. They do however, nickel and dime you to death, attend lower level tournaments, website is awful, constantly bash other clubs and I could do without the constant screaming from the coaches on the sidelines. The stronger players definately get more of the attention from the coaches than the weaker ones. The slogan on their webpage about not recruiting players developed elsewhere is total fiction. The coaches and managers may not recruit, but they certainly pressure the parents to approach other team parents to try and convince them to bring their child to Explosion. We went to another club in the area (that they bash) and couldn’t be happier with the training, organization and overall family feel.
